Since its introduction at The Hawks Eye, the Koh Samui Super Strain has been a top seller for us. We financed a trip for Enthomycologist John Allen and -Clyde- to venture to Thailand and Cambodia in search of new mushroom strains, resulting in a multitude of spores, including the Pink Buffalo, Lipa Yai, and Lamai Beach. Ultimately, we decided to focus on one strain, as it became difficult to keep a large variety of spores in stock while keeping them fresh.
In Thailand, magic mushrooms are an integral part of their culture, with artwork depicting them adorning many places. Due to the sub-tropical climate, numerous psilocybe mushrooms grow naturally in the country, making them easily accessible. The island of Koh Samui, among other places, hosts full moon festivals at beach bars where shrooms and mushroom tea are readily passed around. The tropical climate, coupled with abundant cattle for mushroom growth, makes Thailand an ideal location for psilocybe mushrooms. We even have a picture of the shroom field in Koh Samui where this particular strain was harvested. Perhaps it's time to consider hosting our own full moon festival.
